Dr. Sulbha Arya — Oncologist and Midlife Hormonal Health Doctor

I'm Dr. Sulbha Arya — an oncologist, a woman navigating her own midlife transition, and the founder of Redefine Midlife.

For more than 15 years I have worked in oncology, caring for women through some of the most challenging periods of their lives. Today I bring that medical experience into another important transition — midlife.

I help women understand the changes happening in their bodies through perimenopause, menopause, surgical menopause and treatment-induced hormonal changes — so they can move through this phase with greater clarity, confidence and control.

I didn't start with menopause

I started with cancer.

For more than 15 years, oncology has taught me to look beyond a single symptom.

A woman's fatigue is not always “just tiredness.” A change in weight is not always about willpower. Poor sleep is not always about having a stressful life.

Anxiety, brain fog, low motivation, changes in libido, altered periods or feeling unlike yourself can sometimes be signals that something deeper is changing.

And then there is midlife. I began seeing how often women were struggling with these changes without understanding what was happening to them. They were being told:

“It's just age.” “It's stress.” “You need to exercise more.” “This is normal.”

But “common” doesn't mean “you have to suffer through it.”

Women deserved a more thoughtful conversation. One that looked at the biology, but also at the person living through it. That became the beginning of Redefine Midlife.

Why I created Redefine Midlife

I don't believe women need to simply “get through” menopause.

I believe midlife deserves to be understood.

Your body is changing. Your hormones are changing. Your metabolism may be changing. Your sleep, energy, mood and emotional resilience may change too. And sometimes your relationship with your body — and even your sense of who you are — changes along with it.

But these changes don't mean that your best years are behind you. They mean you need a different way of understanding and supporting yourself.

That is what Redefine Midlife is about. Not fighting your changing body. Not chasing every new hormone trend. Not blaming yourself for symptoms you don't understand.

Understand. Rebuild. Redefine.
What makes my approach different

Medicine meets midlife

My work sits at the intersection of three perspectives.

01

Medical expertise

My background in oncology has given me extensive experience understanding women's health through illness, treatment, recovery and survivorship. I have seen first-hand how profoundly medical treatment can affect energy, hormones, body image, sexuality, confidence and everyday life.

02

Hormonal & metabolic health

Midlife isn't just about periods stopping. The transition involves complex changes across hormones, metabolism, sleep, energy, body composition and mood. My approach helps women understand these changes rather than treating every symptom in isolation.

03

The woman behind the symptoms

You are not a collection of lab reports or symptoms. Your work, relationships, responsibilities, emotions, confidence, habits and identity all influence how you experience midlife. So our work has to look at the whole picture.

Because better midlife health isn't only about feeling better physically. It's about feeling like yourself again — and knowing where you're going next.

Who I help

For women ready to stop guessing what is happening to their bodies

You don't have to tick every box. Sometimes the first sign is simply: “I don't feel like myself anymore.”

  • In your late 30s, 40s or 50s and noticing changes you can't quite explain
  • Experiencing perimenopause or menopause
  • Struggling with persistent fatigue or low energy
  • Noticing changes in sleep, weight, digestion or metabolism
  • Experiencing brain fog, mood changes or emotional overwhelm
  • Finding that your body no longer responds the way it used to
  • Navigating surgical menopause
  • Experiencing hormonal changes following cancer treatment
  • A cancer survivor rebuilding health after treatment
  • Feeling disconnected from your body, confidence or identity
  • Tired of being told that everything is “just normal”
What I believe

Midlife isn't something you need to fix. It is something you need to understand.

I don't believe women should spend their 40s fighting their bodies. I don't believe every symptom should be dismissed as “just menopause.” And I don't believe there is one universal solution for every woman.

Your biology is individual. Your history is individual. Your circumstances are individual. Your priorities are individual. So your approach to midlife should be individual too.

You are not lazy. You are not losing yourself. Your body is not betraying you. Your body is changing.

And when you understand the change, you can begin to work with it — rather than constantly fighting against it.

How I work

We start with understanding — not assumptions

Before telling you what to do, I want to understand what is actually happening. This is why I begin with a Hormonal Health Mapping™ approach.

Understand

What's changing in your body, and why.

Identify

Which areas may be contributing to how you're feeling.

Prioritise

What actually needs your attention right now.

Build

What practical changes you can realistically sustain.

Redefine

How you want to feel, function and live in this next chapter.

The goal isn't to give you a longer to-do list. The goal is to help you know what matters most for you.

My clinical foundation

Dr. Sulbha Arya

  • MBBS
  • MD — Radiation Oncology
  • 15+ years of oncology experience
  • 2,000+ women guided
  • Founder — Redefine Midlife

My oncology career has shaped the way I think about women's health. It has taught me to listen carefully. To look for the bigger picture. To respect the complexity of the human body.

And to remember that behind every diagnosis, symptom or treatment plan is a woman trying to live her life. That perspective continues to shape everything I do at Redefine Midlife.

Beyond the doctor

I'm a doctor. But I'm also a woman figuring out midlife in real time.

I know what it feels like to have a full life, a full schedule and a body that doesn't always cooperate with the plans you have for it.

I'm curious by nature. I love learning, travelling, staying active, reading and exploring new ideas. And I believe that health isn't about creating a perfect life. It's about creating a life that supports the woman you are becoming.

That is the spirit behind Redefine Midlife. Because I don't want this chapter of a woman's life to be defined only by what she is losing. I want us to talk about what she is gaining.

More awareness. More agency. More confidence. More freedom. And perhaps a version of herself she hadn't yet imagined.

This is Redefine Midlife

Not about making you younger — about feeling more at home in the body and life you have now
